I don’t know, I actually liked the movie but mostly because I’m just a fan of the scifi horror genre in general. I’m an ultra fan of the Aliens franchise. And when I mean ultra, I really mean ultra. I use to collect the action figures from all the movies when I was a little girl back in the 80s and early 90s and as a little girl could quote the entire movies, lol. I grew up on it and it was always my favorite thing in the world. I do agree with and understand some of your points though. The science was pretty terrible and I wish the creators of the film put more thought into it. But those are things most scifi movies get wrong, so you have to take it with a grain of salt. Was it a fantastic film? No. But I never considered it bad and actually enjoyed it for what it was. I will definitely be adding it to my blu-ray collection. Since it was filmed in 3D, the 3D didn’t bother me at all. I also do get sick to my stomach on 3D films and don’t usually opt for that if I have a choice. Great podcast and it was a nice break from the usual topics. =)

“Classic” films from the 2000′s off the top of my head (with some help from internet searches): The Batman and the Lord of the Rings Trilogies, Moulin Rouge, Zoolander, Momento, Bourne Identity, Finding Nemo, Elf, Kill Bill, 28 Days Later, Spider Man 2(better than the first), Anchorman, V for Vendetta, The illusionist, Pan’s Labryinth…
I could keep going, but my point is that there are lots of good movies from the last ten years. I also get how you could loose hope after seeing Prometheus.
Unfortunately, while compiling this list I saw many more movies that are crap, but i think it’s like that for most generations.

It was pretty horrible, but I enjoyed it while watching it.
Regarding the inclusion-of-jokes wager, I remember there being several good Data-style jokes from the android. They were as dark and deadpan as a cast-iron skillet, but I thought they were pretty amusing.

The only really great sci-fi movie from the 2000s that comes to mind is Children Of Men.

I really enjoy angry Carisa!
Another SF movie from the 2000s that seemed to go largely unnoticed – Pandorum.
I disagree with Danceswithfoxes though. I especially hated this movie *because* I am a SF and Aliens fan.
Kyle
I didn’t like the movie either, but listening to your discussion, it almost seemed like you guys were talking about an all together different film.
Also, if you’re a fan of the ‘Alien’ films, and you haven’t watched the director’s cut of ‘Alien 3′, you’re doing yourself a disservice; it’s pretty great.

For all the movies flows the robot David nailed the uncanny valley.
Mike
Alien 3 and Fight Club were directed by David Fincher, not David Lynch.
