All I can say is that Reason Rally better be on the west coast next year.

Why are you saying the Reason Rally costs $300 for a ticket? Not cool, and that’s why you’ve not promoted up to now?

    From http://reasonrally.org/about/

“It will be the largest secular event in world history. There will be music, comedy, great speakers, and lots of fun… and it’s free!”

I have to agree with Ryan on the Atheist activism thing. For those of you wondering why I haven’t co-hosted in a while, it has to do a LOT with this.

Also, i think the shit movie you were talking about was ‘End Of The Line’

Tim, I think you mishead him… he was talking about other conferences costing $300 and that the trip to DC from Canada is very costly…

Jeffrey, I understand and agree with the sentiment you and Ryan share, especially about some prayer banner or memorial… However, what I think we should fight for are the issues that are taking our rights away. For instance, in my state (NC) there is an Amendment going through our legislature. This Amendment would define marriage as between only one man and one woman… even civil unions between heterosexual couples would be illegal. So that is just one reason I support giving us a more unified voice. We won’t all agree on everything, but I hope the one thing we can agree on is not letting the religious use religion to take away the rights of others…

I think it matters (even the small stuff) because winning these small, insignificant battles builds up precedent that can be used to win the bigger battles.

It’s very hard to attack the large mass of ignorance all at once, but once you chip away at the smaller bits, the problems gets easier to deal with. Hell, it worked with black segregation…Rosa Parks refusing to sit at the back of the bus. Really petty, but it DID something.

And dammit Jeffrey, we still miss you on the show!! Just wanted to mention that 🙂

Jacob you seem determined to see the best in the Invisible Children guy, which is sweet. But you know, like with Mother Theresa, most of the donations don’t go to what people thought they were donating too, right?

So stunned to hear Ryan speak out against Jessica. If you hate activism why are you on an atheist podcast trying to raise awareness? The whole “there are bigger battles” thing is a total red herring. When we have a clear victory you should celebrate, not gripe that it was a waste of time!

    Interesting, well documented.

Remember , if just before you die and you have a moment of doubt , ask Jesus to be your Lord and saviour and ask him to forgive your sins , its never to late. Now if you need to laugh at me and criticize , go ahead , I know I am right in the end.
