TGA Podcast: Episode 157

This week, Carisa joins me for a very special episode about the Religious History of Marriage, and our thoughts about our own special day.

First, congrats to you both! I know exactly where you are coming from, I just tied the knot in November. We had a secular ceremony and none of my fanatical religious family members even noticed that god was never mentioned (thankfully). Good luck and try not to stress too much!

Congrats guys! I got married about 9 months ago so I know what you guys are going through. The hardest thing I found was trying to fight against social pressure in terms of what you have to have at the ceremony. We wanted a really simple (cheap) ceremony, but there are a lot of things that are ‘expected’, and there’s pressure from family and friends, and society as a whole to some extent, to conform. We managed to keep it simple, around 11 grand, which is not bad for a wedding but still a buttload of cash.

You two sound SO GREAT together. This was a fun podcast to listen to. Remember, your marriage is for YOU. Have your wedding the way you want it.

may I suggest a Humanist wedding

Despite how fragmented Candian Humanists are they’ve been the most progressive. Offering secular weddings for some time now.

    Well wishes
