Australia and Sharia Law

Sharia Law: providing a framework for the subjugation of women for over a thousand years, and with the help of misogynistic clerics, perhaps a thousand more! Hey Australia, that’s the second time in two days that you make it on my site. Not a good sign…

NOTE: I’ve been informed of the low reliability of this so-called “news” program. I wonder, is it owned by Rupert Murdoch by chance?

This kind of news story is being reported more and more these days, but that’s all that happens. It happened here in the UK – we have Sharia courts that were introduced by the Labour government in 2006/7 as a way to make our society more multicultural. Yeah, that word again. The Jews already had Beth Din courts, and Muslims claimed it was religious discrimination that they didn’t have Sharia courts, and so we have them. And now, we have too many. And yet, no one in the fucking government will do anything about it. They are discriminatory. They discriminate against women in hundreds of different ways (just watch the video!). They are abhorrent, and a step back for our country.

Unfortunately, everyone in power seems to think that religion is a requirement for a just society, and so us non-religious (non-fuckwits) are stuck with this kind of insanity in our country.

In closing, multiculturalism bad. Not all cultures are equal, etc.

Shifting the fault to multiculturalism is an uneducated position. We as an observing party have to acknowledge social science aspects that may contribute to this divergence. Furthermore, opinions that express subversive comments concerning the quality of a culture only act to prompt animosity and vehemence. While their culture has unfortunately embraced the whole of this particular monotheism, it is our responsibility and that of all governments to empathize and facilitate the integration of this minority in our societies. Allow them to share their culture but explicitly and without hesitation communicate that while they remain in a country of diversity they must adhere to laws that we all submit to. Hostility isn’t the answer education is, if we can’t reach their generation that we’ll speak to the subsequent generation. Unfortunately “Western” governments appear far to incompetent to act in the aforementioned manner.

    Science help us all.

Sorry I meant to say *Educated for the first line.

I don’t even have to watch this, as the “Today Tonight” watermark on the screen immediately removes all credibility to the story. It is a show that prides itself on running stories such as fad diets, miracle cures etc and winding up it’s fan base that live in the lowest socio-economic areas in Australia.
Commercial TV stations in Australia appeal to the lowest common denominator and consistently run facts light stories to get ratings.
Don’t get me wrong, I do not support sharia law or any religious law for that matter, but stories like these are not worth paying attention to unless it’s coming from a credible Australian TV station like the ABC or SBS. ;)

“…dispensing Islamic justice!” Why am i hearing this as a movie-trailer-voice-over for an islamic superhero movie.

“It was a time of war… it was a time of villainy… only one man could save society… Sharia Man!”

Crouchy, I came here to say the same thing. “Today Tonight” is a sensationalist, misleading piece of trash that I refuse to watch, and berate my family members for watching.

Please anyone, don’t take anything this segment says seriously. If they’re right about anything they say, it’s purely by chance.

You see, not such a bad thing making it on the site twice. They both will never be passed. If Labor sided with a crazy CDP nut-job, all hell would break loose, and shows such as Today Tonight and A Current Affair deal with extreme minorities. That text poll at the end is laughable as the only people that watch the two above mentioned programs are elderly conservatives. We have an extremely progressive youth but we’re not idiots, we will never let Sharia law to be legislated to any extent.

If you think the #2 HDI ranked country (behind Norway) is having bad signs… the world is a terrible place. #Justsayin

Well as long as Muslims live in Australia, they have to follow Australian laws just like the rest of us. There’s no way the Sharia law will be put first.

Nobody takes this seriously. By giving this exposure, you perform the job the ridiculous zealot who dreamed up this insanity wanted you to do. Way to fall for it.
