Can’t keep track of your own bullshit, can you guy?

Watch Robby as he attempts to dodge every pertinent question from a real journalist who isn’t content throwing him softballs. The best he can muster is this answer:

“Christians have built whole dogmas about what happens when you die and we have to be very careful that we don’t build whole doctrines and dogmas on what is speculation”

Umm, you wrote an entire book that is nothing BUT speculation, dude! Even some of your equally deluded buddies think you’re a heretic for suggesting it’s not necessary to convert to Christianity in the here and now.

Kudos to Bashir for asking him why he doesn’t believe in some of the different views of early Christianity. It’s a topic you won’t find many modern Christians willing to answer. Why do you believe in the specific dogma you do? Because morons like Rob Bell keep filling people’s mind with utter nonsense.

That was great and Bashir is good with the religion thing. He sure had more open atheist then Ted Kopple ever did on Nightline but a ‘real journalist’? He’s more a like one of the press room guys out of ‘The Front Page’.

First off, way to dodge the Epicurean paradox. We should not question it, really? What a cop out if I ever heard one. For all the knowledge this guy seems to claim on the divine he can’t even answer that simple question. Bashir is a boss for putting him on the spot.

Saying “Some we keep resisting God’s love” makes me want to punch him. Arrogant son of a bitch. You first assume that God is real, than you assume that his love is perceptable and finally you assume that we resist it implying that we know it but just don’t want to accept it. A whole lot of assumtion without a shred of proof.

What happens after you die is indeed as this nitwit says “wholely in the realm of speculation”. That means that you can’t assert there is a heaven! Why write about heaven when you yourself admit that we don’t know if it even exists.

God’s grace give space to work out molestation by priests? What about fucking counseling by professionals? That seems to do the job just fine without any divine intervention.

Bashir put the final nail in this coffin by pointing out the hypocracy of this smug bastard. He clearly has no grasp on the scripture what so ever. Well I do!

“But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness”
    – Mark 3:29

“And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.”
    – Luke 12:10

And what happens when you deny the Holy Spirit and are not forgiven?

“Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.”
    – 1 Timothy 1:20

Maybe he should read his own scripture…

I evolved from an ape, whats your excuse?

This is just the kind of “garbage speak” that I have come to expect from some holier than thou pastor who wants to get rich writing a book. Why does he think the world wants, nay needs his message? I have read more fundamentally moving words in a fortune cookie. I wonder if he’s ever considered profiteering in the name of god to be blasphemy, maybe that’s why he’s trying to convince himself that he will be saved in life or in death no matter his sins or short falls.

And AJ Buwalda, you have some very points and I love the quotes from scripture. Maybe you should offer to edit his next waste of paper.

I was about to go on a tangent, but the guys ahead of me pretty much said it all! All I will add is this: If the Bible is so open to interpetation, as much that you can pretty much make it say whatever you want, it’s really as usefull as a dry erase board. It serves no purpose, and neither does this guy. Martin Bashir kick his ass, and it was fantastic.

@I evolved from an ape, whats your excuse?

I’d love to edit his next book, but I think he would be crying himself to sleep if I did. Thanks for the kind words. Quoting form scripture comes quite naturally when one has read the book multiple times in his youth.

And Fooda; I’ll try not to steal your thunder 😉

Would it be too much to hope for to try to incite each faction of Christianity to start beating on the other ones?

History shows that it will take one sect of Christianity getting into power, persecution of other sects shortly follows. (Catholics and protestants and the English monarchy anyone?)

Not sure it’s worth the cost though, Atheists would be the first to be rounded up…

This guy has managed to fire everyone in Christianity up. It’s amazing the so much vacuity is able to do just that. He spent that entire interview saying nothing at all while trying to smile through his discomfort.

I’ll bet Mr. Bell rakes in plenty of dough and lives a pretty cushy lifestyle. These guys are like flavors of the year in Christianity. One year it’s Warren, the next it’s Osteen, then Bell, etc. Believers are willing to let the latest pastor fad sweep them up in either euphoria or anger over what the man in question says. And next to none of them seems to realize that they are picking and choosing what they want to believe based on hype and the next schmuck’s ability to talk a bunch of woo well.

The Origen point was a surprising and salient gotcha that you don’t see on cable news often. Bell looked absolutely stunned that he was asked such a question in front of that channel’s audience. I wonder if he knows lick one about the subject.

I’m pretty sure he does not know. He just want to take the nice bits and get the 10% of your paycheck.
