Westboro Church just makes me angry at humanity

Believing in things has consequences. That’s why I’ve never once believed for a second that there’s nothing wrong in people choosing to believe whatever they wish. The power of ideas and convictions can make an otherwise good and kind person into a cruel monster. Society continues to hold the improvable conviction of its citizens as a virtue to our own detriment, and to the detriment of people like Lauren, whose relationship with her parents is now non-existent because of their idiotic beliefs.

She needs to grow up. But she is still what she was just faking to be more moderate. That’s what I got from the video. In fact I like the WBC! They illustrate what xtians really are when the admit that the buyBull is the literal true word. But most xtains don’t even have the courage to follow their own beliefs. At least the WBC does! They are hate filled and disgusting but they are at least up front and in your face. Most xtians talk all this moderate luvy-dovy BS to your face but watch out when they get together to vote or talk to each other about gays, atheist and other sinful stuff.
The only good xtians I ever met are a very small minoity that do NOT believe the buyBull is LITERALLY true, and various parts are not really valid. They also reject most of the OT and a lot of the NT and they do not believe in pushing their brand of BS onto others in any fashion. Of course I’ve met only 5 such people and never found any others.

Many people misunderstand when I say I don’t like people… Often times I re-evaluate, and discover that it is people like this I truly loathe. It was exhausting to watch, and I absolutely commend Lauren for being so brave. Believer or not, no one deserves that.

I don’t see her being all that brave, Brittany. She said she started to question their teachings, and exposing their hypocrisy and they kicked her out. She said she begged them not to but they did anyway. Seems to me like she made a mistake that she regrets, hardly a defiant and principled, much less brave action. I get the impression that if they decided to forgive her, she would come back to them.

And L.Long… “buyBull?” Isn’t that a little childish?

Listen to Nate Phelps’ account of his early life, and his leaving his bigoted family. You know that if the founder’s children aren’t spared the wrath, no one else’s will be either. Granted, Nate left of his own accord when he became of legal age to make that choice, but the situation was essentially the same: The child felt differently, the environment killed the relationship, and a hard separation occurred. It sucks, but I think this woman’s life will be much better off. Saying goodbye to your parents for what very well could be forever is no small thing and I don’t mean to make light of it. But if that is how they are going to treat her, then they are the ones at fault, and she needs to realize that and move on. She is better than her parents, that much is obvious.

I think if a lot more of us were clear and unequivocal about with our immediate families about what we think of religion, I think the majority of us wouldn’t be talking to or interacting with very close segments of our respective family ever again, either. What has happened here with a WBC family has happened to families with milder forms of absolutism…sometimes much milder. The WBC is not a lone entity here. JWs (not to say they are mild among theists) shun dissenters regardless of relation as well. I’ve heard a number of stories where members were shunned by their JW church, and cases where the church counseled the parents or other family members to actively shun and shut out the dissenting family member.

Religion destroys both actively and passively.

It makes me sad that one of the children got hurt while protesting. Aren’t we supposed to be the good guys? Regardless of the hate they are preaching, physical attacks, especially on children can’t be the answer. It isn’t their fault.

Why its one of the holey books that states its content and what the believers do! I can’t help it that they picked an appropriate name and then misspelled it to hide its true content.
If it wasn’t so insulting to the actual 3Stooges that’s what I would also call the 3 religions that come from the buyBull. Because they look like them, as they continue to beat each other over the head without really doing a damage.

Poxlin. A guy threw a drink at the crowd and it hit a kid in the head. It’s sad that the kid got hit, but it was hardly a severe blow. He wasn’t aiming for the kid. And like just like when the enemy mixes in the civilian population during war, some civilian casualties are to be expected. But you don’t shoulder all of the blame, much of it lies on the enemy for imploring such tactics. Its on the parents of those kids to keep them safe, if you’re going to intentionally aggravate people and you know people are going to get violent, don’t bring your kids. It would be like taking children with you to a mob and then acting surprised when it gets violent. It doesn’t excuse the guy who threw the drink, you shouldn’t do that, but please it’s hardly a stain on us, whoever ‘we’ are.

And L.Long… you know what you’re doing. You’re making fun of the names of religious books and the names of the religions themselves. And that is childish. I don’t see anything wrong with attacking the bible, or the teachings of a religion, but calling it the ‘buyBull’ is silly. You’re being silly sir. (Or ma’am)

Im surprised the WBC hasn’t been burned down. I guess the religious people are the only ones who do that stuff

WBC a perfect example of stupid people breeding, looking to be led around like sheep and not learning to use reading comprehension and reason when reading a religious text.

Sadfully ignorance breeds ignorance, from all sides, it isn’t until people actually study things on their own that they can begin to clear up the stupid brainwashing that still lingers since the Dark Ages.

I really hope Lauren eventually realizes that her family disowning her is the best thing that could ever happen to her.

Lauren is so fucking hot. She left because she knows the world needs her beauty. The phelps have a few hot chicks. I might join just to get a piece.
