Andy Scott Broke-Ass Scholarship Part 2

As you might recall, Superfan Andy Scott was generous enough to donate monies to the site in order for 10 people to get free membership for a year. Andy has picked 8 few winners so far for his “Broke-Ass Scholarship” scholarship, and here is the list:

Roki B,
Sterling
David
Kyle Nicholas
Will Rodbourne
Ashley
Dayton
Tercero

Congratulation to the winners. There are still two spots left, so be sure to include in the comments why you too deserve to be the recipient of this totally not-made-up-in-10-minutes scholarship. Good luck everyone!

Firstly I’d like to say that Andy Scott is freaking awesome for doing this. I hope that one day I’ll be in a position financially to be able to do something like this.
I’d love to be one of the final two to get the “scholarship”. My brother and I have been listening to the show for about 2 years now and we’ve been wanting to become members since it was an option but we just don’t have the money. I’m in grade 12 and I’m going off to university in Windsor next year for Forensic Science so I have to save all the money I can get for that, tuition, residence, textbooks… and I don’t have a job because no body wants a high school student.
So anyways thanks again to Andy Scott, you’re awesome.

P.S. If it will sway your vote it’s my birthday on Friday :D

Hmm, why do I deserve the scholarship? Well lets see, I live in Ireland, a country that was practically run by the Catholic church up until only a few years ago. Everyone had to go to a religious school, there actually weren’t any secular options! I currently live under the government sanctioned bullshit that is the modern Blasphemy Law! What the hell!?!

I’m a recent graduate working an awesome 6 hours a week in the world’s worst economy. The rest of the world own our freakin’ country!!! I love being an atheist and desperately try to fight all the religious crap around me, but nobody here gives a shit! Its soo frustrating! Its why I love your podcasts, you do all the venting for me and its almost as if I’m talking to other atheists. (Sad, I know…)

So why do I need the membership? Because I need something to make me forget where I am 24 hours a fucking day!

And you guys are awesome. *ego stroke*

Wow, that’s truly awesome of Andy!

I’d love to be a recipient of this scholarship. I just started reading this blog and listening to the podcasts about 4 months ago, which is when I decided I really wanted to start learning about atheism rather than being apathetic about my non-belief.

Admittedly, I haven’t become a member yet since I’ve put myself on a VERY tight budget because I finally want to start paying off my student loans instead of deferring them year after effin’ year. For my profession, I’m a property appraisal document reviewer. Trust me, the more podcasts I can listen to while poring over the most boring material ever written, the better.

Thanks, Andy Scott! Jake’s rants help me keep my mind off the fact that I live in a country that is perpetually frozen.

    Hey everybody!
First of all, I’d like to thank you guys for doing such a great job on the podcast and sticking to it. It really means a lot to everyone, including me.
Well, let’s see… I am 17 years old in Pensacola, FL, and working on getting myself away from the deep south! I grew up with a hardcore Evangelical family, and unfortunately I live with them. Now, I’m not going off about how teenage life sucks, but it’s certainly not easy being the only atheist in a thousand mile radius.
My family is still on the “For me and my house, we will serve the lord.” bit… So as an incentive for me to go, they’re threatening not to pay for my college education. As long as I allow them to drag me to church every Sunday, I have a future! How splendid. (You should be proud to know I save the podcasts for Sunday mornings and afternoons! You guys are the best pep team/ Christian antidote out there.)
Which brings me to my problem. As much as I would be happy to support you guys, it’d basically be at risk of my college education and ultimately my future. My parents have no idea I listen to the podcast and there is really no telling what they’d do as extremists. I can’t explain how thankful I would be for this opporunity.
Also, I’d really love to ask you guys some questions some time about religious rights of minors. What can we do? I want to get involved, but I simply don’t know how.
Anyways, thanks for everything you guys do. It helps to be reminded that there is a world of logic and reason above the bible belt.
    Keep up the good work!
    -Brittany

If this helps my cause at all, I’d like to share that I went to the grocery store this morning to buy milk so I could eat my delicious cereal and my cash card was declined. I felt like such a winner!

OMG, I won?! SWEET. About time I got something right this year! :D I love you, Andy Scott. Marry me! ;P XD

    Clayton Jenkins

    Hello!

My name is Clayton Jenkins. I have been a long time fan of the podcast and love the extra shows. I am a college student attending USU. I am a Junior and have recently run out of money in my scholarship bank account. Most of the cash I was using was from my parents and grandmothers savings since I was born, and my own steam cleaning business in high school.

I would work to earn back some more money but I recently broke both of my ankles in a rock climbing accident. I fell 1.4 seconds to my fate off a 30+ foot cliff. I broke my talus in my left ankle and 3 metatarsals in my right. Along with a dislocated toe.

I live in Utah and have one atheist friend. He is aspiring to be a doctor. The rest, as far as I’m aware, are LDS or Mormons.
