Getting Harassed: Christian-style

The difference between a bully and a Christian in some of these small towns is they feel vindicated for what they do when they “pray” for the souls of us poor heathens. Listen to the guy at the end: yeah, it must totally be our “militant atheism” that makes people hate us. I mean before Richard Dawkins and Hitchens wrote their respective books, the world was a better place for atheists, and we were treated like gold!

I’m so glad I live in a country where no one gives a crap if you’re an atheist.

Ditto! Zero grief for being an Atheist (no “coming out” process to speak of), but oddly enough I’ve gotten more than a few dirty looks after revealing myself as an extreme metal fan.

That’s people for ya. It’s always something, goddamnit.

Militant atheism? I do not recall ANY atheist telling others to hurt or murder others in the name of atheism. Also, this video only proves what we already knew. Religious dunces are clearly not being persecuted; criticized as they should be, yes, but not even close to being persecuted. However, atheists (as well as homosexuals) are CLEARLY being persecuted. Can’t get a job because you’re an atheist? How about a position in the U.S. political system? Does this sound familiar?

Lastly, 3 million people? That’s laughably an extremely low estimate. And we, apparently, deserve what we get because our ‘militant’ atheism wants to remove phrases which were NOT originally on our forms of currency (dollars/coins; 1853), in our anthems (pledge of allegiance; 1954), or on our courthouses (late 1950s). It is simply absurd and atrocious that the religious have so credulous and short a memory as they do.

To my previous post; I would certainly admit that persecution BETWEEN religions does and likely happens, and that if you are a Muslim (or middle-eastern at all) you are likely to feel some of this persecution as well. The question is, where does the vast majority of this persecution appear to come from? Ding, ding, ding! Correct. Religions.

We should refine the poll questions to getter a clearer picture of who is truly religious vs. atheist. No way there are only 3% atheists. “Do you believe in god?” will almost always elicit a knee-jerk “yes” response until you ask a few more clarifying questions about actual religious beliefs.
