Narnia Fans are overly sensitive

It doesn’t take much to send Christians into a hissy-fit these days. If it’s not billboards and bus ads that have them declaring western civilization is persecuting them, it’s an innocent comment made by Liam Neeson sparking outrage.

Neeson is the voice of Aslan in the Chronicles of Narnia, the Christian themed fable by famous apologist C.S. Lewis, and he made remarks the character reminded him of other similar Messianic figures in history, including Mohammad and Buddha. Christians, however, would have none of it:

Walter Hooper, Lewis’s former secretary and a trustee of his estate said “It is nothing whatever to do with Islam. Lewis would have simply denied that. He wrote that the ‘whole Narnian story is about Christ.’” Added William Oddie, a former editor of The Catholic Herald, “I can’t believe that Liam Neeson is so stupid…”

Seriously, how stupid are you, Liam? Don’t you know that Christians invented the whole “hero who sacrifices himself and then comes back from the dead” thing? Sure, you might argue that figures like Horus, Mithra, Dionysus, and Hercules are all practically carbon copies of one another, and they predate Jesus by hundreds, sometimes thousands of years, but that’s because Satan counterfeited history to cause confusion. Duh!

I think it’s CS Lewis, not Lewis Carol, by the way ;-)

I would change the title of this post to “William Oddie is so sensitive”.

I like the children stories, as I’m sure many of you do, but I don’t know who he is and he doesn’t speak for me.

Thanks Eric, I corrected my mistake. Too many things going on this morning to concentrate! lol

Anyone who bothered to learn about other cultures’ history and religions should be able to see the correlation between those figures. IDK if Hooper & Oddie are just zealous or ignorant, but either way they should get over it.

“that’s because Satan counterfeited history to cause confusion. Duh!”

I don’t know when, where or how, but I’m using this!

Your a fucking moron. The reason the above are carbon copies of one another are because they are archetypal. Jesus was a historical person, we just know that he died, and he went around talking to people. Greek myth is myth. Why? Because there were two sons of God that came existed 2000 years ago. Jesus, the son of The Abraham God, and Alexander the Great, son of Zeus. Alexander the great thought he was the son of Zues, and Jesus, the son of his God. Which one actually acted like a god? Well thats why Christians believe in him because of the way he acted.

So grow up. You honestly think a bunch of Jews would lie about something and willfully sacrifice their lives for a religion they were not even sure would spread? You think they would just make a religion for fun just because, and then die?

The conspiracy theorism, bro. Too much. Guess you will just find out in fifty years or so. Good luck.

Does JJJ’s post fall under Poe’s law? I mean its funny that anyone would believe that nonsense, but I am not sure if he is joking or not.
