Smut for Smut campaign shocks Fox News

Here’s further proof no one at Fox News has actually ever bothered to read the damn Bible. If they did, they might have noticed much of it is pure insanity, coupled with stories of genocide, infanticide, incest, rape, and everyone’s favorite, the threat of eternal damnation. A little bit of porn never hurt anyone; hell, one of the hosts seems to be all too familiar with the very “smut” they seem so outraged about.

The world would be a much more peaceful place if every religious text was replaced by porn, don’t you agree?

Funny she had to correct herself “…has most people, er, well, some people, very upset.”

And the 3 Christian responses were (paraphrased):
    1. “I don’t understand”
    2. “I’m shocked”
    3. “I’m offended”
    hahaha

encouraged by the fact that this is happening in Texas, of all places.

still, it’s a sophomoric stunt that in the end adds fuel to critics of atheism. a group calling itself “Atheist Agenda” smacks of zealotry; include me out…

statements from group representatives are far from enlightening. does atheism need a version of “god hates fags”, designed mostly to infuriate?

    my attempt at reaction paraphraseology:
    1. “I missed the point. I need things spelled out. Then, mistranslated.”
    2. “I’m gonna’ tell this guy who tells me what to think. He feeds on controversy, too.”
    3. “I’m offended, and close-minded. Everyone else is like me.”

I saw this posted on Pharyngula. Apparently, there was another campaign run by a student group at another school (I know, not very convincing…when I find where I read it, I’ll post the link) that was a bit more ‘civilized’. Their campaign was “fiction for fiction exchange”, where you trade in your bible for a beautiful work of fiction. Far more people would subscribe to that approach.

Sorry…here’s the link to the ‘smut for smut campaign’ article…it was written by Hemant Mehta, The Friendly Atheist:

    http://friendlyatheist.com/2010/03/02/smut-for-smut-is-a-bad-idea/

Near the bottom, he addresses his preferred approach:

“The Society of Non-Theists at Purdue University ran a much better event a couple years ago when they ran a Fiction for Fiction campaign…”

Did you see when FoxNews cut the clip of the guy at the end, so that he would not finish what he said about how bad religious text book can be. I’m finding FoxNews to be more and more anti non christian news group. I would not be surprise that in 10 years they will be just like CBN.

I’m not surprise that Fox News did this. Anything group that goes against Christian Fox will show how wrong it is.
