Philippine Catholics lambaste government for condom distribution

I love condoms. They’ve been around since ancient times; Egyptians would make theirs out of ceramic (ribbed for her pleasure I hope), while in the 16th century Europeans made theirs out of sheep intestines. Although their primary use is contraceptive, these useful little devices are used for all kinds of purposes, from makeshift waterproof containers to improvised explosive devices. Apparently, having a rubber tube like structure is convenient for a number of reasons.

Almost everyone loves condoms, except for the Roman Catholic Church, who feels every sexual encounter needs to result in pregnancy. Not only is this view insanely impractical and dangerous (how are we supposed to support a geometrically expanding population?), it puts people’s lives at risk. By telling people condom use is forbidden, how many believers contract deadly diseases? How many women have unwanted pregnancies that put their own lives in jeopardy?

The reason the church hates condom use is almost entirely because of the story of Onan. It goes something like this: God tells Onan to impregnate his brother’s widow, but at the last minute he pulls out, spilling his “seed” on the ground (hey, sometimes you just slip out, you know?). God gets angry and strikes him dead. From this nonsense, the Church has decided God disapproves of contraception. Yep, that’s pretty much the only reason (other than their “be fruitful and multiply passage they like so much).

In the Philippines, ignorant and annoying Catholic leaders are actively killing the government’s plan to encourage its citizens to practice safer sex to prevent the spread of HIV. They incorrectly and deviously proclaim condoms are ineffective, saying the only real way to prevent AIDS is abstinence and forcing fidelity in marriage. Yeah, those values are really realistic, aren’t they?

It’s just another example of how out of touch with reality these assholes are. They would gladly let people die of AIDS and other diseases if it meant following the insane edicts of sexually repressed clergymen. Do yourself a service people; don’t take advice on sex from guys who have never actually HAD it. These are the same fuck-faces who can’t seem to stop molesting little kids. Why is anyone listening to these guys again?

Spread the outrage

The other reason the Catholic Church condemns them is that they make sex about recreation, not procreation, so it becomes the sin of lust.

Hate to be a grammar Nazi, but in the third paragraph, “disproves” should be “disapproves”… get your shit together, Canada! =)

Other than that, I have nothing else to declare, other than my undying love for Jimmy-Hats and the many hideous children (what was I thinking? BOTH of her teeth were crooked!) I would be paying child support for, if not for the Jimmy-Hat.

I think you are overlooking the primary reason for the Church’s disapproval of contraceptives – it is far easier to make catholics than to convert them. By insisting that catholics never use birth control they ensure a continuing revenue stream in a large number of future catholics. Look at their adoption policies – they will allow non-catholics to adopt from them if and only if the adoptive couple (heterosexuals only for them) agrees to raise the child catholic.

They are the wealthiest institution in the world, and they want to make sure that they have plenty of customers in the future to keep that up.

I am all for a fair compromise!. Since God only punished that one time, and it in context, it was a time when God commanded someone to impregnate a woman, we make a new law. Condom use is completely forbidden only when impregnation is commanded by a God. Obviously in the story God wasn’t mad that Onan spilled his seed, he was pissed off because Onan didn’t obey God’s command.

How can anyone misread that. I mean I would probably not use a condom if a deity actually happened to exist and told me specifically, “knock her up or else!!!”, (and since the situation won’t ever really happen, its win/win :D )

    @Daniel
Seems the study is REALY unrelyable. See PZ Myers’ take:

While that one study isn’t very good, its same results have been corroborated by many studies across decades: http://kspark.kaist.ac.kr/Jesus/Intelligence%20&%20religion.htm

FOUND THESE VIDEOS, MAYBE THEY COULD BE INTERESTING FOR YOU TO READ.
I do not send it to force anyone to believe of course, it’s required to believe in something that is there, and it does not also mean any critical or value judgments against those who do not believe it: this is to share research that is also a hobby and an area that I like, though of controversy. I respect other opinions and not discuss them without an open mind as any other conversation. I accept if you do not see the video , if you do not read it or don’t agree, WHAT I DO NOT ACCEPT IS antisocial offending or critical Judging SPECIALLY TO THE DEGREE OF INTELLIGENCE AND MENTAL ACUICITY OF THOSE WHO BELIEVE IT SUCH AS MY CASE …

AM NOT A MORALIST, fanatical, OR RADICAL, NOT REPUBLICAN OR CONSERVATIVE, OR FROM ANY RELIGIOUS SECT (NO OFFENSE TO THOSE WHO ARE…): I JUST BELIEVE, BELIEVING IS A FORCE AND I LIKE TO RESEARCH ON THE SUBJECT. THEY ARE THE LAST ONES I SEND. Here goes:

IT SEEMS TO ME (BUT IT IS MY OPINION) THAT FACING ALL THIS; NOT BELIEVING, IS ALMOST: DO NOT BELIEVING IN FACTS

Wow – horrible grammar, ALL CAPS, unsubstantiated mythical stories all combined with some miracle videos that aren’t even as good as the classic ‘bigfoot’ film? If someone was trying to parody xtians they could not have done such a good job.

    Thanks for the laughs Patricia.

Okay, the original version one has only three none bibke sources as far as I can tell and those are right at the beginning. From the dates that they are given you can assume that only one of them is even close to being a first hand account, and that only says there was a man that they regretted killing, and that his followers thought they’d seen him. so from that you have one possible first hand account that says very little, 2 second hand accounts and a lot of peoples musings based on the bible, not particularly compelling to be honest.

Saints of my hearts video, it’s just a list of so called miracles with no corroborating evidence, though I will admit the soundtrack was decent.

And the final video, much better soundtrack to be honest, though it’s its only redeeming feature, again it’s just a list, but this time of miracles, which any time they are properly investigated (ie by sceptics, not people who already are convinced it’s true) are found to either have rational explanations (many examples of wooden statues crying simply due to resins or oils leaking out) or be hoaxes made to draw pilgrims (the self harmer who made holes in her hands, can’t remember what it’s actually called).

Also please get your computer fixed your caps lock button seems to be broken, and is exceedingly annoying.

Ive noticed that the crazier you are the more you use CAPS LOCK!!! LOL, love it how the word “fanatical” was not in capitals in the last paragraph. Its common for an individual with a weak argument to try and scream it loud. When i get engaged in an argument and they begin to raise their voice i know I’ve struck emotional chord, not logical or reasonable proposition.
