Wicked doc on the science of homosexuality. Take that, bigots!

We’re starting to piece together the science of Epigenetics, which looks at how cell differentiation occurs during development. Think of it as a way for us to understand how different genes can be expressed even though there’s been no real change in the organism’s DNA sequence. It’s extremely complex and I won’t even pretend to understand what it’s all about, but one thing is for sure: it’s probably one of the most exciting fields of study in biology right now.

One of the ways that this science is being understood is by comparing identical twins, and as you can see from this video, something as simple as a hormone’s effect on the development of the brain may be entirely behind homosexual preferences. I think it makes sense; I mean, we are all female at some point, and if it wasn’t for our bodies producing testosterone, we’d still all be females. Why are we surprised when every once in a while, a dude is born who likes other dudes? Seems like it would be something you would actually expect to happen regularly in nature…which it does. Can we lay this issue to rest now?

(yep, this link is thanks to Jeff again)

You’d think that with all the edvidence being presented that homophobics who hide behind their religion as justification would see the evidence and conceed. No. After all, my definition of a ‘fundamentalist’ is someone who believes in something, and will keep believing it even though the evidence is extremely heavily against them.

    Thanks Jeff & Jacob!

The gays just need a Christian side hug.

There is an argument that could very easily arise out of this video, but maybe it was addressed but I just didn’t happen to catch it: Why do women feel homosexual urges if it all stems back to the fact that we all start off as female?

Now, don’t get me wrong, I whole-heartedly believe that homosexuality and bisexuality (on the rare occasion where the person in question just isn’t following the retarded bi-fad) are natural occurrences, but I don’t know if that’s the strongest argument in support of that view.

To Zac above- female fetuses get testosterone too. I think it’s safe to assume that the theory is that lesbians received too much to give them any male sex characteristics but enough to change their sexual desires.

Ah, well if I had been listening more intently to the specifics of the video than I probably would have caught that. Unfortunately, I was doing homework at the time. lol
