Why I avoid talking religion to strangers

A man in San Diego is in critical condition after he was shot five times after an argument over religion. He’s expected to pull through, but I’m thinking that the next time he feels the need to debate over the merits of Christianity over Islam, he might be a little more careful who he debates with.
This is the same reason why I avoid talking about religion when alcohol is involved. Religious wackos already have a few screws loose; I can only imagine what happens when you throw booze into the mix. It’s like trying to put out a fire with a bunch of C4…

I suppose this sort of thing is a risk whenever one engages a religious extremist in conversation. It is only natural that we would want to be careful. But I’m also not willing to be bullied into continued silence.
