Welcome back to another episode of the Good Atheist Podcast! This week, Ryan and I do our best to lambaste the Catholic church and their attempts to cover up the systematic abuse of children. We also amuse ourselves with the recent news of Wikipedia clamping down on Scientology. If you’re not yet a patron of TGA but enjoy our show, think about becoming a member. You get access to hours of our bonus content as well as an extra show a week!

Hi. Loving the podcast. I must say though, as a lifetime atheist from a mainly catholic country your sweeping generalization of the catholic ethos falls in line with the stereotypes popularized by protestants (you know, us serious hard-working protestants vs. those self-beating lazy catholics). If you really want to go into the cultural differences you could say, for the sake of balance, how most protestant colonizers completely wiped out native populations whereas catholics opted for integration (however patronizing). You can look at North vs. Latin America for that. Millions of natives massacred with an implicit nod from the protestant god. In case you need some perspective.
Don’t get me wrong: I despise everything about religion. I don’t think there are “better religions” because I find them all completely delusional. It is absolutely true that there are remarkable cultural differences stemming from the different traditions but it seems that you’re trying to choose between lesser evils when we should be denouncing ALL religions as what they are: uncivilized crap.
