TGA Podcast: Episode 37

This week, Ryan and I discuss the atheist bus campaign that is attracting a lot of attention in the UK. We’ll also be discussing the case of Kara Neuman, who died as a result of her parents’ religious beliefs. It’s 40 minutes of TGA fun.

Really enjoyed the episode this week, guys. Let me see if I can remember everything I wanted to comment on…

Ryan, if you’re reading this, I had to go back to the last episode and look through the comments to see if I was one of the ones doubting your atheist cred… whoops, sorry *^__^* I did get a little passionate in my post, but I hope you don’t take it personally. Here in the Bible Belt USandA, I see the effects of religious persecution every day; and we’re not talking about Saudi Arabia level shit, it’s just the casual assumptions that atheists simply standing together and speaking out against can help to raise awareness and overturn.
And yet, I’m in the closet. Because my wife owns a business that caters to soccer moms, and if it came out that we (or even just I) were atheists, her business would actually suffer and our kids’ future prospects would be damaged, maybe irreparably.
I can’t imagine that you’ve ever had to hide your beliefs or risk financial ruin, so to hear you say what you did last episode, I took it kinda personally.
And that’s not even mentioning the evils like Prop 8; but you mentioned that in this episode.
I mean, I get what you’re saying about there being bigger problems, but is it really an either/or choice? When all it takes is you standing up and speaking out in support of atheists, does that really preclude you from also being an activist for other things?

Oh, and, “put some mud on it”… hilarious ^_^

Mayhap if Ryan smoked less dope he’d be more of an activist? I hear too much weed can make you somewhat apathetic.

Otherwise, thank you for another episode. Looking forward to the next one.

Maybe it will even with contain some actual content. 😛

Oh man– I just heard Ryan totally misuse the word, ‘literally.’

“TV has gone down the toilet; it literally has!”

    For shame…
