Birthday Post!
February 28, 2009 12:29 pm
Hey guys. It’s my birthday today, and that means that this weekend’s posting will be a little slower than usual in order for me to get jiggy with it. I thought this might be a good chance to talk about this patronage idea that i had talked about on my radio show. I realize of course that trying to ask for money is like begging for sex; it can often make people uncomfortable, or worst, react negatively. After all, some of you might be thinking to yourselves: why should I give him any money, when I can get most of his radio shows for free.
I believe that patronage is the future of the internet. I hate the idea of advertising companies getting too big online; it ruined radio, it ruined TV, and it will eventually infect the internet as well. Let’s face it, a site promoting atheism, humanism, and anti-prohibitionism isn’t likely to attract many advertisers anyways. It’s my dream to do this as a living, and over the next month, I’m going to prove to all of you that it’ll be worth your time. I’m working on producing parody videos for you guys, and we’re really going to turn the content tap WAY up.
I feel enthusiastic about the potential of this idea, and this is no small thing to say on the day of my birth. It seems fittingly poetic that I tell you this as I turn a year older, and experience the last year in my 20′s with a new outlook. My goal is to continue to entertain all of you for years to come, and although I realize that not all of you will believe in this patronage model, I hope that by the end of March you will come to see the definite advantages of having us work full time on this gig.
Oh, and if you’re a hot chick, I do accept semi-nude photos as a birthday present. I’m still incorrigible and a rascal, so don’t fault me for trying to see some skin
Have a Good Atheist day everyone. I know I will!

Man, talk about some fucking scathing lyrics. I’m a new fan of this guy. He’s apparently a vet of the Iraq War, studies physics and raps about theology. If you haven’t heard of Greydon Square, go check him out!

Florida Baptists Get Involved
11:27 amFlorida is facing a budget deficit, and the primary concern of their government should be to ensure that the economic crisis doesn’t bankrupt their state. Of course, not everyone sees the economy as the most important issue of the day:
Florida Baptist Convention legislative consultant Bill Bunkley is urging Florida Baptists to evaluate budget priorities “through the lens of God’s principles and His prioritiesâ€â€”and to urge the Legislature to do the same.
“Of primary concern to Florida Baptists should be the sanctity of human life from the womb to the tomb, marriages defined and supported as those anchored by a husband and wife, educational honesty about the creation and development of the world as created by God, the further temptation of those experiencing financial hardship by increased gambling venues and incremental moves by government to adopt a socialistic approach to providing necessary services
Bill wants the issues to be centered around all of these pointless bullshit. Foreclosures? People loosing their jobs? It’s all useless to him. That any misery here on planet earth could be avoided seems less important than the eternal souls of Floridians, apparently.

Here’s Kirk Cameron trying his best to convince us that before he read the Bible, he didn’t know anything real. Even if he didn’t believe in God before then, he himself admits that he never really though about God, so he’s less of an atheist and just more of an ex-non theist.

I like to lay the smack down. It’s who i am. It’s in my nature. Guys like Ray Comfort, who think that the banana is proof that God exists, are easy targets. The problem happens when the high profile atheists engage in this type of behavior. It only makes these guys seem like innocent victims. “Hey, look at me, Richard Dawkins is calling me names!”
Ray is more than a fool. He’s positively mentally deranged. We don’t need Richard telling us; it’s already obvious. These guys are bottom feeders, and the only way to deal with them effectively is through satire and comedy, not through vain insults. So my advice to Richard is that instead of engaging in a serious debate with the guy, parody him. In fact, srew that. I’ll do it. I don’t think Richard has the acting chops.
I’m going to go find my camcorder…

Not Allowed to be Blasphemous?
12:10 pmA lot of you will disagree with me on this one, but the UN is possibly one of the most useless and corrupt organizations in existence today. The ideology behind the UN is nice enough, but in execution, it has shown itself to be inefficient, blind, and often backwards. This new resolution to make blasphemy illegal is just another example of how corrupt the UN is.
The law called to make illegal “acts of hatred, discrimination, intimidation and coercion resulting from defamation of religions”. In other words, you can’t talk smack about religion, because apparently some people get a little upset. There’s a clear agenda behind this: Islamic countries are tired of people making the link between terrorism and Islamic faith. Newsflash: there is a direct link.
One guy in India was arrested for “hurting the feelings of Muslims”. Great. I was worried that my own government was slowly becoming a police state. Now I’m going to have to watch what i say too? I fucking dare them to come to my door and arrest me. I’ll make such a stink they’ll think twice about pulling this kind of shit on anyone. Hey UN, stay out of my house, stay out of my life, and deal with the fact that people are allowed to say whatever the hell they want.

Jesus Loves Spanking
10:24 amHere’s an interesting discovery from Unreasonable Faith, concerning pastor John Piper who is convinced that if alive, Jesus would be spanking his kids like it’s 33 AD
I’m not a fan of corporal punishment, but I was occasionally spanked as a kid and I didn’t get screwed up too badly. It’s not the spanking itself that worried me in Piper’s case, but his reasoning behind it:
Deep down, does this person believe that God brings pain into our lives? Because Hebrews 12:6 makes the direct connection: God disciplines every son whom he loves, and spanks everyone that he delights in (my paraphrase). And the point there is suffering. God brings sufferings into our lives, and the writer of the Hebrews connects it to the parenting of God of his children.
This is a wrong view of God! God uses suffering to discipline his children. So do we.
This kind of attitude regarding suffering is nothing new. Mother Teresa was obsessed with it. She believed that when people suffered from broken bodies they could come to identify with Jesus own suffering before his death. It’s the kind of Opus Dei shit they can’t seem to rid themselves of. It’s a consequence of relying so heavily on a story of painful sacrifice to represent love. The rest of the civilized world sees their own blood liable as nothing more than a barbaric Bronze age belief. It’s hard to argue with that assessment.

Party is Over; It’s Ash Wednesday!
February 25, 2009 4:17 pm
It’s Ash Wednesday today. It’s the first day of Lent, the supposed time that Jesus walked around getting tempted by the devil. It’s called Ash Wednesday because of the custom of putting a cross of ash on someone’s foreheads as a sign of repentance (looks more like finger painting to me), and it’s the first of 40 days that some chose to sacrifice something they adore (not literally, of course). I had to look up what this quirky day is on Wikipedia, not because I’m an ignoramus, but simply because this isn’t something I’ve actually ever come across. I live in Quebec; the notion that anyone would stop doing something they find pleasurable for more than a day is a foreign concept. These are the same people that smoke in church.
So for now if you’re a practicing Christian, the party is fucking over. You’ve got to sit straight, do your math, file your taxes and give up something you love for a while. I, on the other hand, will be doing the complete opposite. It’s my birthday in 3 days, and the last thing I’d ever do is slow shit down. I think Atheists should use Lent as an excuse to party for 40 days. If anything it should frustrate the hell out of the true believers. Who’s with me?!

Hot Chick’s Search for Islam
12:31 pmShe seems both highly naive, submissive and also highly attractive sexually. This is probably a dangerous combination, so I can understand why she would go for Islam: after all, Islam means submission, so in a weird way, this probably speaks to her. I love how she claims to have compared only two religions, and that now she’s 100% certain that Islam must in fact be correct. I don’t want to be mean here, but I doubt strongly that her sources were objective, fair, and painted an accurate picture of what either of these religion are like. I hope it works out for her, but I have a feeling it won’t. She has more videos available on her Youtube page, so check it out if you want to cry inside a little.
