Worst economic theory…ever

Here’s a quote to stick on your fridge:

It has been my view that the steady secularizing and insistent effort at [sic] dereligioning America has been dangerous. That danger flashed red in the fall into subprime personal behavior by borrowers and bankers, who after all are just people. Northerners and atheists who vilify Southern evangelicals are throwing out nurturers of useful virtue with the bathwater of obnoxious political opinions.

The point for a healthy society of commerce and politics is not that religion saves, but that it keeps most of the players inside the chalk lines. We are erasing the chalk lines.

This is a fellow who would equate the supposed “War on Christmas” with the complete economic meltdown of his country. Blaming atheists on a crisis that was a direct consequence of the deregulation of very sensitive markets makes about as much sense as crediting the alignment of certain planets for the characteristics of human beings (more on that another day). This whole argument is baseless, ignorant, and shows a complete lack of any fundamental understanding of the economy. No, evangelical parishes having more power to influence people would not have saved America, sir.

I have a bit of a message to all the Christians getting up at arms and worried about their precious holiday losing ground in America: A lucky thing called the 1st amendment protects people from having YOUR religion shoved down their throats. That people choose to use Holidays instead of Christmas just demonstrates people are respectful of other cultures and traditions. Some of these same ‘oppressed’ Christians are the same people who vote to disallow gays from marrying or adopting kids. Yeah, not being able to say Merry Christmas really sucks compared to that, doesn’t it?

A total non sequitur. He implies causation without even being able to even define the terms or provide data to demonstrate correlation properly.

Want to really get pissed off? Check this out. This whole thing is a piece of work, but check out how the AFA is being “persecuted” on page 3.

“Its agenda is forcing homosexuality upon many who reject the notion that homosexuality is a legitimate lifestyle.”……….”We want to outlaw public homosexuality.”

Why do you insist on bashing Christians? If you don’t believe in God thats fine, but why insult those who believe? I don’t believe in insulting you for your belief, don’t insult mine. Christmas is a Christian holiday because we celebrate the birth of Christ! If you don’t believe in it why do you take off work for Christmas, all of you who don’t believe should work! We as a Country have compromised on so much that we have lost focus! A company named Tyson has dropped celebrating Labor day and recognized a muslim holiday. Why is no one complaining about that? Labor day is a day to recognize the CHRISTIAN men and woman who built this Country, who LABORED hard for all of us. And one more thing, are you gay? Yes, it is unnatural to be with the same sex, take religion out of it if you want, but it’s still not right! I care about you as much as any one else and I hope the best for you! I pray you find truth in your journey here on earth! God bless

    Tim, Tim, Tim….so much fodder…

    1) “I don’t believe in insulting you for your belief, don’t insult mine.”

I’m pretty sure you did just that, just now. Do you really feel that only people with your particular imaginary friend helped “build” whatever country you are from? (I assume it’s the United States, because we are usually the only nation arrogant enough to say “this country” in an international arena and expect everyone to know what it means.)

    2) “…all of you who don’t believe should work!”

I believe that each Friday is symbolic of when Tim left a silly comment on this blog. Therefore, I would like the day off from work, paid, to celebrate “Tim Day” All of you who don’t believe should work!

    3) Your honest concern for the plight of homosexuals is underwhelming. I had a vision you would post this, so I wrote a post yesterday just for you and your ilk here. After you read it, please put it in your pipe, and smoke it.

    4) It is so precious how you can spout out banter like that without regard (or knowledge) of your intrusive stances that are odds with liberty, and then finish off with a “I hope the best for you!” I know you are just following the lead of your imaginary friend though. In the words of the late, great Carlin:

“And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever ’til the end of time!

    But He loves you.”
