The Good Atheist Podcast: Episode 24

September 12, 2008 12:07 pm

The podcast is back, and this time, we intend on keeping our promises. The proof? I just quit my dayjob to do this! On this week’s episode, Ryan and I ask: Is nothing sacred? Plus, we talk about why we love abortions so much! Well, love is a strong word, but this week, it’s Ryan’s turn for a good rant.

Spread the outrage

I’m not just thinking about you guys, ’cause others do it too, but you’re picture is a good example that leads to the question, Why is it better to be completely bald instead of just a little bald?

The guy who received the order of Canada, his name was pronounced Mor-Ghen-Taaler. All the vowels are soft. The Ghen is not the same and the gen in generator. It sounds like “get” with an n added to it.

    Hi guys,
I look forward to it – good to have you back. You will of course forgive people if your new-found enthusiasm for podcasts is not taken on faith…

Guys i know you joked about it but you MUST start taking the time to do some basic fact-checking after recording the show but before releasing it. The whole Freakonomics abortion to crimerate link was debunked over 2 years ago. Levitt messed up his calculations, which even he now admits. Go google it for yourself and see. I’m reminded of that rant you did a few weeks ago about tithing for the church in England and it turned out it you should have said the Swiss. This matters guys, because it makes me doubt the things you say which i don’t happen to know about personally. If we can’t trust what you say then why should we listen?

Hey Sean, you have to consider that Levitt didn’t “concede” that he was wrong. he accepted there was an error, but still claims the data is relevant. it’s true that correlation doesn’t mean causation, but it is my personal opinion that the study has merit. And that, my dear man, is the reason to listen. My opinions may be wrong sometimes, but hey, it’s entertaining as hell.

Urgh – am I being dumb? (Probably) Is there a way to subscribe to your podcasts without having to use evil iTunes?
